What Are the General Installation Requirements for Box-Type Substations?2024-05-12

As living standards continue to improve, the application of box-type substations has become increasingly widespread. Understanding installation requirements can help reduce errors and lower project costs.

1. Box-Type Substations Shall Meet the Following Requirements:

2. Verify the Certificate of Conformity and accompanying technical documentation, including factory test records.

3. Conduct a visual inspection to ensure that the nameplate is present, accessories are complete, insulating components are free from damage or cracks, oil-filled sections show no leakage, gas pressure indicators of gas-insulated equipment are functioning normally, and surface coatings remain intact.

4. Installation of a Box-Type Substation Shall Follow the Procedures Below:

5. Installation may proceed only after the foundation has passed inspection and all embedded conduits, cable ducts, reserved openings for incoming and outgoing cables, and related embedded components have been verified.

6. The box-type substation and grounding system must pass acceptance testing before energization.

7. The following documents shall be submitted during project acceptance:

1) Product Certificate of Conformity.

2) Factory technical documentation, including factory test reports and installation and operation manuals.

3) Trial operation records.

II. Construction Procedures and Instructions

1. Construction Process

Foundation steel installation → Grounding grid installation → Transportation of box-type substation → Box-type substation installation → Cable termination.

2. Process Description

1. Foundation Steel Installation

(1) The cable chamber walls and foundation platform shall be finished with 20 mm thick 1:2.5 cement mortar, with a smooth and level surface.

(2) Foundation steel structures shall be installed strictly in accordance with design drawings and applicable standards, and corrosion protection treatment shall be applied.

(3) All fastening components used for equipment installation, except anchor bolts, shall be galvanized products.

(4) Permissible deviations for foundation steel installation shall comply with Table 8.2-5.

Table 8.2-5 Permissible Deviations for Foundation Steel Installation

The angle between the wire rope and the plumb line shall not exceed 30 degrees.

4) Box-Type Substation Installation

(1) After positioning, all connection bolts shall be fully tightened. During installation, the equipment should be covered with protective plastic film to prevent dust and foreign objects from entering the enclosure.

(2) Upon completion of installation, all compartments shall be comprehensively inspected, including the following:

① Verify that equipment components, wiring, and configurations conform to the design drawings.

② Check that the phase sequence is correct.

③ Adjust the mechanical interlocking system to ensure flexible and reliable operation.

④ Adjust switches and grounding disconnectors to ensure fast, reliable operation and proper contact performance.

5) Cable Termination

Primary wiring, secondary wiring, and control cables of the box-type substation shall be connected correctly and shall comply with the requirements specified in the Cable Termination section.
